The Met Gala raises funds each year for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. On October 9th, 2024, the museum announced the Spring 2025 exhibition "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." This exhibition draws inspiration from the black style spanning over three centuries. The Metropolitan Museum of Art stated, "Through a display of garments and accessories, paintings, photographs, decorative arts, and more, from the 18th century to today, the exhibition explores the concept of dandyism as both an aesthetic and a strategy that enabled new social and political opportunities."
This year's Met Gala dress code is "Tailored for You," focusing on Black style since the 18th century. It emphasizes tailored suits that display vibrant colors, joy, and pride, celebrating Black culture.
The Met Gala co-chairs are Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour. LeBron James will also serve as an honorary chair.

Here are the top looks from the Met Gala 2025:
Doja Cat
Last night, Doja Cat brought powerful feline energy. She consistently impresses and adds a creative touch to everything. At the Met Gala 2025, she stunned in a feline print bodysuit by Marc Jacobs, paired with sheer black tights. In a Vogue interview at the event, Doja mentioned, “There are certain prints that I hold close and dear to me.” Even the previous year, she appeared in a complete white cat costume.

Teyana Taylor
I love her suit. She attended the Met Gala wearing a custom-designed suit by Marc Jacobs, styled by two-time Academy Award-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter. This iconic look was inspired by the Harlem Renaissance. The suit was complemented with a matching durag, gloves, and a walking stick.
Last night, she absolutely stole the show with her look.

Colman Domingo
One of the co-chairmen at the Met Gala 2025 was Colman Domingo. His look was inspired by Andre Leon Talley, Vogue's fashion journalist, who wore a blue silk caftan at the Met Gala 2011. Colman explained her look during the Vogue live stream, saying, "Othello the Moor, kings, the color blue — a color that, when we were doing our research, we found a free slave wanted to wear his finest blue, superfine wool suit. It gives you choir, it gives you king, all those moments."

Janelle Monáe
Janelle Monae's ensemble by Thom Browne was one of the most fun and imaginative outfits. It featured sculptural layering and was paired with playful eyewear. She described her style as "the time-traveling dandy."

Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert and Sora Choi
At Met Gala Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert and Sor Choi gave us little bit break from the strong look during the event. It was feminine and soft compared to others.

Cynthia Erivo
Cynthia Erivo made a powerful appearance at the Met Gala last night. As a star of Wicked, she knows how to make an entrance. She wore a custom Givenchy outfit, complemented by her striking nails.

Damson Idris
The British actor Damson Idris certainly delivered drama with his Tommy Hilfiger racing suit and added style with a gemstone helmet. Damson is the co-star of the upcoming movie, Formula One, which is about racing. Before the movie's release, he made a big entrance with his movie character.

Alton Mason
Actor, idol, and dancer Alton Mason made a memorable entrance at the Met Gala with a bold, sculptural look. His heart-shaped suit captivated everyone's attention, making a strong impression.

Laurie A. Cumbo and Bobby Digi Olisa
